DIY. An Apron For Mother And Child.

I noticed this DIY-idea when it was standing by me in the train. Lady by my side had this colorful apron-like shirt in top of a t-shirt. It seemed that much interesting that I asked if she had done it herself. And right she had.

Liisa Lenkkeri told me that she had made the apron from an old checkered tablecloth first to her daughter. Later on she found it useful to herself too. She had made the shoulder strap of a shoelace. So the apron was adjustable for the kid and herself.

In Liisa's apron was a round pocket decorated with a snippet of a colorful ribbon that matched with the colors. If you change the material for example to linen and do a different kind of pocket, use a little lace or frill you get a new look to the whole thing.

Catwalk. Rue Du Mail, Summer 2012.

Twenties is one of the most delightful trends that has been seen in summer 2012 collections. Rue du Mail had this black and white dress that I found specially nice in it's simplicity. Patterning in the front is very interesting. It reminds me of the head of Darth Vader and make up of Alice Cooper at the same time.

By the way there is a nice post about the Roaring Twenties in the blog I recently found, The Skeletons in my Closet.

On the street. Men in bright colors, Erottaja Helsinki.

Hooray I say. Has men in Helsinki finally found colors? Traditionally they dress up quite cautiously in terms of color. But this season seems to be different. The red pants seem to be a smashing hit really. Green pants has been seen also. I'm waiting for more.

My style. Puma Slip-ons For the Summer.

Puma slip-ons.

I went to town to buy summer canvas shoes for the kids. In the shop I came to second thought when I saw blue-white canvas slip-ons. Those could be nice to me for the summer. Maybe it is the similar coloring than in the Finnish flag that appealed to me. Who knows.

Odd in this case is that in general I'm avoiding all garments with conspicuous labels and trademarks. I'm rather representing myself than some brand or label. But here the PUMA Cat logo jumps in the side anyway. It seems that I'm not (and people in all) so consistent with the behavior as I think I am.

This exception to the rule must be caused because of the cat. First of all I'm definitely more a cat person than a dog person. Furthermore I'm enjoying the drama that happens in my feet. Watch out ladybug! Puma is attacking.

Catwalk. Louis Vuitton, Summer 2012.

I found a box of pastels from my workroom. Ideal target to try them was Luis Vuitton's eternal flower girls from SS 2012 collection. Experience was like drawing with colored dust. Totally something else.

Many fashion bloggers tend to publish pictures of their own style. I haven't done it so far. But now here we go! I received these wonderful portraits of me on sunday, the mothers Day. So now you know what I'm built. Pictures by my daughters, 8 years and  6 years.

On the street. Bright pants, Theatre Pasila, Helsinki.

Men in bright-colored pants has been seen a lot in Helsinki's scenery this spring. I remember the last similar invasion from nineties. Only exception is that now the cut of the the leg is narrow while it was carrot-shaped before. But we still have something of the carrot left, namely the orange color!

Catwalk. Victor & Rolf, Summer 2012.

I was fascinated by the colors of Victor & Rolf's SS/2012 scenery together with the outfits. I loved the big stitches they used for example in this evening gown. The collection truly made me in a good mood. I couldn't help but think the source of inspiration they might have had while designing this particular collection. A hummingbird and a cake maybe?
