On the Street. Star Eye Girl, Metro Helsinki

I saw this girl three weeks ago, drew two weeks ago and now live in blog. This is it, the impossible circle in life of mine. Too little time for free time activities. But I do my best and post here irregular on regular basis.

But isn’t this girl something! The eye makeup and the amount and volume of black colour really turned my head. Fur and layers. Red and black hair. Something to draw with ink!

I’m in love with the old grannies dressed up in leopard. Like this stunning fake fur leopard coat. This outfit makes an interesting clear form seen from distance.

This lady had all her accessories, hat, handbag and silk scarf tinted to off-white color tone. Each of these had some special texture or details. Soft furry surface in hat, golden details in handbag, violet and green flowery motifs in silk scarf. In this way the view nearby gives some extra interest.

By adding some details and texture, your outfit stays interesting whether it is seen from a distance or nearby.

This happens to be the two hundredth Flash For Zonzon -blogpost. I have thought of what could be the perfect topic for this occasion. And then this lady walked up to the same bus stop where I was standing. What goes around comes around. She is exactly same lady, which was the subject of the first drawing around here.

Her style does not disappoint this time either. It’s not every day that you see the 70-year-old lady dressed in ankle-length black leather coat with fluffy fur collar and cuffs. What even better, together with carefully considered details, like handbag covered with dark-colored lace frills, big turquoise pearl jewelry and Chanel-style hat. Perfect.

On the Street. White Faux Fur Coat, Kaivokatu, Helsinki.

This black and white figure reminded in my memory a couple of weeks ago. Extremely fluffy white faux fur coat, head like a noddle, hair just as white as the coat. Counterbalance the skinny black legs and pointy boots. What can I say. Contrast makes the outfit interesting.

On buses we seldom see our fellow travelers eyes nowadays. Most people concentrate to their smartphones like this lovely lady. On the other hand it allowed me to watch her in piece. Win-win situation.

Last weeks have been quite dark around here in Helsinki. Sunlight is rarely seen. At that point it's very refreshing to see some bright colors walking towards on the street. Here are few characters from my sketchbook.

During the first week of the new year there is always lot of Russian tourists in Helsinki. It affects the street scene immediately in the way that there is a lot of furs. Fur hood edge, fur hats, fur coats, fur vests. Normally fur is not so common around here. After 90s strict criticism against fur farming fur has almost disappeared from the street scene. For example a friend of mine has inherited a nice looking fur coat, but she don't want to wear it because of the bad conscience and feeling sorry for the animals. 

Anyway, this look was so elegant I had to paint it. With the Monocler Gamme Rouge -boots this fur sleeved coat would make quite a different sound.

Hello there! Let's begin the new year blogging with the basics. In this case it means Street style -post. Here we have a nice outfit from Helsinki that reminds a bit like poodle.  

On the Street. The Mystery of the Fox Girl, Kamppi, Helsinki.

A hat is an essential accessory around here in winter times. Frost and snowing is much more pleasant when you have your head warmly covered. Few days ago I saw this fox-like hat. Somehow that suited well to my mood and gave me a motif for a little Christmas story.

MYSTERY OF THE FOX GIRL
On the last week before Christmas some forest animals dare to explore the habits of people. To make sure to be safe among people they change themselves to human form. This Fox Girl is now among us in Helsinki looking around wondering lights and odd things it sees. It is used to interpret the shadows and paw prints in the snow. It doesn't know what to think about all it sees in the town of Helsinki. The Fox Girl returns back to the woods a bit confused and it is very happy to be able to dive under the spruce branches with no lights on.

Catwalk. Monocler Gamme Rouge, fw 2012.

We are now living in a winter wonderland here in Finland. Every other day it's snowing. It made me think of the best outfit from Catwalks for winter season. My choice is Monocler Gamme Rouge's checkered outfits. They are fun, yet stylish with 60's twist. There shouldn't be fear for cold feet in these boots either.

Hello, and Happy New Year 2012! At a New Year time you can see a lot of Russian tourists in streets of Helsinki. Usually the ladies are extremely feminine and they tend to have fur hats in their heads. 

With this lady I was thrilled by the ultimate finishing with bright red frilled blouse hem that was peeping under military jacket. The whole look was like feminine equivalent to ballet Nutcracker's hero, that I saw in Finnish National Opera House in December. What a wonderful performance! Though I wouldn't brake any nuts with her jaw.
