On the Street. Classic Trench Coat With Attitude, Helsinki

 

There has been very little any interesting street styles around lately. Or there may be, but I don’t personally move around very much due to pandemic Covid. Something anyway. Here we go.

I don’t remember where or when I saw this woman, but the feeling was, that this trench coat has been with her since 80’s. Thinking about the classic cut and thick material that lasts time. Accompanied with black polo shirt, the grey braid on the neck and giant yellow sunglasses from the same era as the coat.

This is a good example of two things. 1. When you buy quality, it may last your lifetime. –> very sustainable from the viewpoint of globe. 2. When you lean your style on classics like ageless trench coat, you make decision of style, not fashion. And style is the one, that lasts time.

On the Street. October Like Grey Flannel, Helsinki

October, the month of Inktober. Let’s participate, at least this first day.

I saw this guy in Habitare fair last year. Just found this illustration under a pile of papers. Habitare is the yearly organized interior, design and furniture fair in Helsinki. Good place to see somebody to draw after.

In October we dive in to the grey, rain and puddles. This blonde fellow was dressed in the tones of black, grey wool flannel trousers, white shirt and black v-neck knit. Fits to the mood. Classic and cosy. To be in style, we can always trust in classics.

For fun. Remedies Towards Dark Season.

In Finland in this moment Autumn days get shorter and darker towards the end of the year. Outside there is cold, rain, snow. At this point of the year it is great to have some inspiring sources of light and green energy indoors. Aquarium – cube of light and house plants make the perfect surrounding. When you add a pot of tea and a good book you are alright whatever is the weather outside.

On the Street. Fly With Wings, Kaapeli, Helsinki.

Penny for your thoughts, Lady. I know that this every day darker autumn season may cause deep thoughts and even depression. The lack of sunshine combined with continuous rainy days one after another really can bring added stress to life. Maybe the wings of your shoes makes your steps lighter.

Seasons. September Weather Girl Portrait.

September is time to settle down to autumn season in Finland. No hassle, life starts to flow on it’s natural paths. The weather is not particular cold or warm. September gives pleasant sunny days that one can be thankful for. Oh, what a sunny day it is! On the mind’s back knocks the image of soon approaching darkness that is evident when autumn continues further.

But there is still time to enjoy pleasant outdoor life wandering in parks and woods on weekends, picking mushrooms, doing the last canoe trip of the season.

We even had an official ”sleep night outdoor” -day in September 17th in Finland. Suomen Latu − The Outdoor Association of Finland is the organisation behind the idea. The Sleep Night Outdoor -event pays attention to everyman's rights, which able everybody to enjoy the Finnish nature. You can sleep outdoors in a national park, at a camping site or even in your own yard, if you have one.

On the Street. Harmonious Family, Lauttasaari, Helsinki.

Oh yes indeed, this little family seemed like being harmonious. Not only in their mutual relations, but also their colour tones suited so nicely with each other. It was a rainy day and these blues and greys reflected the mood perfectly. And still a little bit stripes and dots to cheer up the look.

On the Street. Monochromatic Outfit, Kamppi, Helsinki.

This lady caught my eye with her monochromatic outfit. Tones from pure white to black and all the different shades of grey in between. The asphalt and the foundation of the house accompanied the harmony. Having a monochromatic outfit ready in your closet is a good idea for many occasions.

On the Street, Sky Blue Trench Coat, Lauttasaari, Helsinki.

The sky is blue and so was this trench coat and I was like Oooh, what a beautiful blue you have in your coat! Combined with darker blue flared jeans and a bit of brown I was totally sold. Blue in it's shades is my all time favorite, you know.

Her about 5-year son asked me: "Who are you?" I replied to him: "A random passer-by who admires your mother's beautiful coat."

On the Street. Red Coat and Shoe Laces, Hämeentie, Helsinki.

Autumn in Finland has come so far that wool coat is a good companion. If you add one bright color with black in your outfit you really can't go wrong. Like here red combined with black. Even the shoe soles and laces are in the game.

Seasons. November Leaves.

Almost all the leaves has left the trees. My feet can easily hide to the ground. That is why I like these El Naturalista-shoes. I'm feeling that I have walking leaves in my feet. 

Finnhits. Globe Hope, Rokua Dress.

Hello there! I guess I am beginning a serie of pictures under label Finnhits. There I will comment some finnish clothing brands that I truly like. This is the first one. Here you have an autumnal image. 

This girl is wearing Globe Hope’s Rokua dress. Globe Hope makes ecological design out of recycled materials. For example this Rokua dress is made of dark blue wool-mix trousers that used to fly around the world as a part of an airhostess' uniform! What a good idea. One day. Feeling Autumn, Helsinki.

Weekend was sunny and warm and beautiful. I guess it was like farewell to summer, because when monday came, things were just the opposite. Raining and showering. Then I saw this lady with silvery raincoat and accessories. Couldn't help the autumn feeling.
