On the Street. Paper Cut Fall Look, HAM Helsinki.

Street Style Helsinki. Paper Cut Fall Look.

This paper cut lady was caring of a group of schoolchildren in front of HAM, Helsinki Art Museum. They have a marvelous Yayoi Kusama exhibition going right now until 22.1.2017. A lot of dots to fall in love with.

I like the boxlike upper body combined with narrow long skirt. Everything wool felt material that suits for the fall perfectly. In her feet my favorites, black men’s style brogue shoes. You know, again one more example how Finnish women prefer the ability to walk over femininity high heels. And it looks good!

On the Street. Paper Cut Cap Girl, Kaapelitehdas, Helsinki.

Street Style. Paper Cut Cap Girl, Kaapelitehdas, Helsinki.

I was sitting in a car, when I saw this girl focused browsing her phone in the corner of Kable Factory. She was far away and only tiny little thing in horizon. But still, the colours and form of her outfit leaped to the eye and caused a wow-effect. The color combo; red, pink, orange and the humorous long visor in her cap put the smile on my face.

Because the only thing that stuck in my mind was the form and colour, the simplicity of paper cut tells best way the sight.

Draw A Dot. Christopher Kane SS 2016 Fashion Illustration.

This lady is my submission for Draw A Dot Open Call to draw something from Christopher Kane SS 2016 collection. This time I chose to make paper cut illustration.

In Instagram you can check hashtag  #DrawADotChristopherKane to see all submissions.

The problem with me as illustrator seems to be that I always want to experiment with different materials and drawing techniques. I look at the subject and then decide what is the best fit to it. The negative side is that there is no signature style in my illustrations. But never mind, drawing should be fun. And sure it is!

One Day. Oystercatcher On the Lawn, Lauttasaari, Helsinki.

Oystercatcher On the Lawn, papercut

One day when I was on my way home I walked past a green grass lawn where bright yellow dandelions blossomed. There was one single oystercatcher searching for worms. Such a beautiful graphic sight. I love these birds, handsome and humorous, always busy in finding daily meal. Oystercatcher usually like to hang around seaside but maybe this bird preferred a more colorful environment for a change.

May this be a beginning of a summer season. Kids are out of school for ten weeks holiday. Nature blossoms and the warmth will come for sure (some day). Let’s all enjoy this season with all good that will come. It’s time to move on to the sunny side.

Just one reminder. Next weekend it’s already time to celebrate Helsinki Samba Carnival. I am pretty sure that I will do a report about the happening also this year.

On the Street. Neon Sneakers, Sello, Espoo.

Street Style. Neon Sneakers.

Neon colors seem to be hip and pop in sportswear right now. Yesterday while walking around town I did a test. And really it is not only in sports stuff, but once in a while there was some neon color in sight. Shoelaces, handbags, a zipper in a hoodie, purse, headphones, a neon print on a tote bag.

This fellow I saw in Sello shopping center. Otherwise dressed in dark colors, so the neon pink sneakers popped up like last ray of sunshine before night falls. Another interesting thing was the long hem shirt. Let’s see if that is the next cool thing on summer.

On the Street. Bold Colored Accessories, Laru, Helsinki.

Street Style. Bold Colored Accessories. Papercut.

It’s time to dig warm scarves and beanies from the storage against the November creeping coldness. And wind. And did I mention darkness? Yes, there is also darkness. And against darkness we would better have a pedestrian safety reflector in the interests of keeping alive in traffic. It really has saved lives. And for our mind’s sake using colorful accessories may be a good thing to cheer up. At least I was delighted to see this bold colored twin set of scarf and beanie.

If you are seeking for more ideas to avoid dark day melancholy, you may click your way to 2012 November post: November Blue Love Poem. There is some remedy for this darkness.

On the Street. Monochromatic Outfit, Kamppi, Helsinki.

Street Style Helsinki. Monochrmatic Outfit.

This lady caught my eye with her monochromatic outfit. Tones from pure white to black and all the different shades of grey in between. The asphalt and the foundation of the house accompanied the harmony. Having a monochromatic outfit ready in your closet is a good idea for many occasions.

On the Street. Confused By the Twins, Kamppi, Helsinki.

It happened one Sunday when I was walking away from cinema Orion. I had just been watching Charlie Chaplin, the Gold Rush. Oh what a wonderful film it is! There is a scene where Chaplin and big Jim are really hungry. So hungry that big Jim starts to see hallucinations. During hallucinations he sees Chaplin as a giant chicken and starts chasing him to get finally a good meal.

Well, in these feelings I thought I was seeing hallucination when I saw the two exactly same looking women, dressed in similar outfits walking towards me on the street.

I remember that in school some girls had the habit to dress up in similar outfits. It kind of sealed their friendship. Together forever. With twins this is reality sometimes. I know few elderly persons from my neighborhood that apparently live together and also their style is quite the same. But exactly same outfit is seldom seen. That is why I needed to look two times when these ladies appeared.
